Purpose of this blog

All of the main action occurs on the Facebook page , so be sure to go there and vote. This page is intended to a) explain what's going on and b) allow me to post some graphic representations of the brackets without interrupting the flow over there. Explanation This is a bracket style tournament of all the songs that reached #1 in the 80s. There were 230 songs. Brackets work best when you have a power of 2 and the nearest power of 2 is 256. To make this work, I gave 26 songs a first round bye. The second round will have 128 songs, third round 64 and so on and so on. The list was collected from here . I seeded the songs by the number of weeks they were at #1. Some extra consideration was also given to songs that were the #1 song in their particular year. I'm not going to pretend that this necessarily evaluates the songs by quality but this was the least subjective way I could think of putting them in some kind of order. I took the songs and split them into 8 brackets of 32.
